Babylon Village Arts Council ’s Poetry Program

For the past four years Babylon Village Arts Council ’s Poetry Program has been headed by local poet Tom Stock which was hosted at Jack Jack’s Coffee House on the first Thursday of each month. Tom scheduled the monthly readings and fostered poetry into the Babylon community. BVAC would like to take this opportunity to thank Tom for his years of promoting poetry and instilling a role model for all poets to keep expressing yourself- even in this new reality.

Deborah Hauser , another Babylon poet, will be heading BVAC’s program. She is the author of Ennui: From the Diagnostic and Statistical Field Guide of Feminine Disorders. Her work has appeared in SWWIM, Bellevue Literary Review, and TAB: The Journal of Poetry & Poetics. Her book reviews have been published in The Kenyon Review, Prairie Schooner, and Tinderbox Poetry Journal. She has taught at Stony Brook University and Suffolk County Community College. She has lived in Babylon for 30 years and is active in the poetry community. Like Wallace Stevens, she leads a double life and also works in the insurance industry. BVAC is continually reimagining our programs. Look for information regarding the Poetry Series. (Hoping in the future that they will once again be held at Jack Jack’s.)

Babylon Village Arts Council is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization.

Community support enable BVAC to present cultural art programs throughout the year to the Long Island community. Programs are made possible in part through grants from Suffolk County, New York State Council of the Arts and through Nassau and Suffolk Counties in partnership with Huntington Arts Council, sponsorships, partnerships, donations and memberships.
