Babylon MOMA
Museum of Miniature Art

The Babylon Museum of Miniature Art (MoMA) is pleased to announce Marie Letourneau as its featured Artist & Author for January–February. A Long Island–based illustrator and author, Marie Letourneau brings a lifetime of storytelling, craft, and imagination to the Museum’s intimate galleries.

Born in Queens Village and a proud fifth-generation New Yorker, Letourneau moved to Long Island at age five and grew up in Babylon Village along the Great South Bay. Her passion for illustration began early—she recalls creating tiny, handmade books from paper and staples to gift to family members, a childhood ritual that foreshadowed her future as an author-illustrator.

Letourneau earned her BFA in 2000 from Hofstra University (The New College). In 2006, she published her debut book as both author and illustrator, The Mice of Bistrot des Sept Frères, which received ForeWord Magazine’s Book of the Year Award, Bronze Medal—an early milestone in a career marked by distinctive charm and meticulous design.

Her illustration and design work has appeared on national television, including The Nate Berkus Show and The Revolution, alongside fashion icon Tim Gunn. In 2014 and 2015, Letourneau was also a finalist in the Martha Stewart American Made Awards for her stationery shop Le French Circus on Etsy. The Museum will take you on an adventure with Argyle Fox.

Influenced by the whimsical worlds and visual storytelling of Ludwig Bemelmans, Maurice Sendak, Jim Henson, Wes Anderson, and Theodor Seuss Geisel, Letourneau’s work blends nostalgia, narrative, and finely crafted detail—making her a perfect fit for the Babylon Museum of Miniature Art’s mission to celebrate small-scale art with big imagination.

The January–February Artist & Author exhibition invites visitors to explore Letourneau’s illustrations and creative journey, offering a rare glimpse into the miniature worlds that have defined her career.

Babylon Museums of Miniature Art Debuts New Holiday Exhibition Featuring Local Girl Scout Artists

The Babylon Village Arts Council's Museums of Miniature Art is proud to announce its newest exhibition showcasing holiday-inspired miniature artworks created by talented Girl Scouts from two local troops. This special seasonal show highlights the creativity, imagination, and community spirit of Troop 605 from West Babylon and Troop 1683 from Babylon.

Guided by Troop Leaders Jennifer Montiglio and Laura Brustard, Troop 605’s collection is displayed at the Babylon Historical and Preservation Society, where visitors can enjoy a charming array of detailed festive miniatures crafted with care and heart.

Troop 1683, led by Kelly Donovan and Leigh Ann Hubert and based at the historic Nathaniel Conklin House, presents a delightful selection of tiny holiday artworks inspired by tradition, celebration, and winter magic. Their work reflects a blend of historic appreciation and youthful creativity that beautifully complements the Conklin House setting.

This exhibition invites the community to experience the joy of the season through a unique miniature lens. The girls’ imaginative creations will be on view through the month of December at both locations, offering families, art lovers, and local residents a perfect stop during holiday outings in the village. BVAC is proud to collaborate with the Girl Scouts.
