PRESS RELEASE
Currently on Display E. Lisa Samperi @ The Pizzeria
Exhibition Dates: April 1, 2026 - May 31, 2026
The Babylon Village Arts Council Ramp Gallery at The Pizzeria Babylon is pleased to present a new solo exhibition featuring the work of local artist E. Lisa Samperi, on view throughout April and May. This exhibition highlights Samperi’s lifelong dedication to the arts and her mastery of oil painting, offering viewers a rich collection of portraits, florals, landscapes, seascapes, and cityscapes.
E. Lisa Samperi earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Dowling College, where she focused on drawing and painting. She began her professional career at Hayes Art and Design, working as an intaglio printer and later as a chromist, specializing in color separations for lithographs. Following the closure of the business, she returned to Dowling College to earn her Master’s Degree in Art Education and went on to inspire students as an art teacher in the William Floyd School District for over 30 years.
Working primarily in oils, Samperi is drawn to the medium’s ability to capture light, atmosphere, and depth. Her paintings are characterized by rich, vibrant color and a strong sense of realism, allowing her to beautifully convey the essence and personality of her subjects.
The Ramp Gallery, located within The Pizzeria Babylon, continues to serve as a unique and accessible exhibition space that brings art into the heart of the Babylon Village community. Visitors are invited to experience this inspiring collection while enjoying one of the village’s favorite local establishments.
Currently on Display Tara Kawas @ The Pizzeria
Exhibition Dates: February 3 - March 31, 2026
Tara Kawas is in an experimental stage of her artistic journey, not wanting to be confined by specific labels, materials, or styles. She typically creates torn magazine collages by combining a variety of colors and textures, and paints with watercolor, gouache, and acrylic. Sometimes she leans more towards realism, while other times her artwork is more expressive. Tara is inspired by the natural world. Her wide array of subjects can range from oysters and crabs, to fruits and fungi. Recently, she has been participating in group shows, exhibiting her work at local art galleries. In her free time she also paints windows and murals for local businesses. The artist was born in Queens, New York, but currently resides on Long Island. This is her 9th year as a Visual Arts teacher for the Department of Education. In college she received a BFA in advertising design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, and later earned two degrees in art education, a BFA from LIU Post, and a MSEd from the Queens College University. Tara has always considered herself an artist, but only started to take her art career more seriously in the last couple of years.

The vodcast will provide a platform for local artists to share their voices and experiences. The project was developed in direct response to the need for more accessible, authentic, and diverse arts programming—particularly for those historically excluded from traditional gallery or arts spaces. Some of her works are available at the Nassau County Museum of Art Gallery Store and will appear in the 2025 Northport Poetry Path book and Nassau County Poet Laureate Society Review 2025.
